Peak Mount Kenya: check!
These nine heroes from Epe in the Netherlands left for Kenya in the first week of October to start their tough ascent to the top of Mount Kenya. With its 5.199 meter it’s the highest peak of Kenya. The team raised money through this event for our waterproject in Maai Mahiu, that ICS realises, commissioned by Stichting Kenya Kinderen.
And as you all can imagine the ascent was a hard one. In 3,5 day they made it to the top. “Superheavy” as one of the members said. In the previous weeks the team raised funds via local sponsors. We don't have the total sum yet but we will know soon.
After the climb the team paid a visit to the recently drilled borehole in Maai Mahiu. It soon became clear to everyone how huge the need for clean drinking water in this village is. Conversations with villagers and visits to the local hospital and orphanage didn't let anyone unaffected.
